The Sale of Brymor

Following the sad passing of Robert Moore, who had run Brymor for several years with his family, the difficult decision was taken by the Moore family to sell Brymor and the farm at High Jervaulx. A buyer was found for the farm but the ice cream business was too much for them manage so the two were split, with Brymor being sold to a local farmer and businessman. The business still continues to follow the Brymor family spirit with Nicola Moore, the daughter of Robert and grand-daughter of Brian Moore the founder, remaining as Operations Director and responsible for the daily management of the business.

The ice cream continues to be made in the same buildings on the farm as before, and it will continue to follow the same recipe. As part of the sale, the new owner of the farm wanted to move his own livestock onto the farm so unfortunately we had to find a new home for our girls. Thankfully they didn't have to move far and are being looked after on a farm just down the road at Tim Gibson’s in Crakehall. Tim is a pioneer in the Dairy industry, and helped to introduce robotic milking to the North of England. They are still grazing on lush Yorkshire grass, and we have done everything to ensure the move has not been too stressful, even feeding them silage collected from their old home at High Jervaulx.

The calves are being looked after by Rosie on our owner’s farm near Richmond, and are reared in the same way as they always have been. They are bottle fed milk and are gradually weaned off as they get older. We still name every calf and are always looking for new names so if you have any suggestions please get in touch and help us out.

We receive the daily delivery of our Guernsey milk first thing in the morning which guarantees that we can continue to make our delicious ice cream in exactly the same way that we always have. It’s a fitting tribute to Robert, Brian and the whole Moore family that Brymor recently was awarded two First place awards at the Great Yorkshire show, hopefully many more accolades will follow.
