We are delighted to have achieved double national recognition in the Guild of Fine Foods 2018 Great Taste Awards, winning a One Star Award for our amazing Guernsey milk and a One Star Award for our sister supermarket brand, Yorkshire Ice Cream. As a farm based business in Wensleydale making ice cream by hand, the awards are a real accolade; this year’s Awards attracted a record 12,634 entries yet only 3,658 achieve an award.
Great Taste is the acknowledged benchmark for fine food and drink. It has been described as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world and the ‘epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize’. The Great Taste logo is the sign consumers can trust when buying food and drink in local, quality retailers.
Recognised as a stamp of excellence, Great Taste values taste above all else, with no regard for branding or packaging. The judges savour, confer and re-taste to decide which products are worthy of a 1, 2 or 3-star award.
Brymor has been recognised by The Awards for the last three consecutive years for our Brymor Guernsey Ice Cream, one of only five brands of ice cream made in the UK from Guernsey milk. Established in 1984, Brymor Guernsey Ice Cream is now sold in more than 300 independent retailers, supermarkets and farm shops.
However, Yorkshire Ice Cream was only launched in 2017 and is made with Dales milk from local farms and was developed as an affordable, everyday quality product. It is already proving a hit in supermarkets and is now sold in Waitrose, Morrisons, The Co-Op and Booths.

The Guernsey milk produced by our Guernsey cows is the foundation of Brymor Ice Cream products so the award is a real mark of quality”. He added “Yorkshire Ice Cream is made with Dales milk from local farms and is a similar recipe to Brymor Guernsey Ice Cream. The judges have obviously recognised the skill with which we have created a great tasting affordable product”.
The panel of judges this year included; MasterChef 2018 champion, Kenny Tutt, chef and food writer, Elly Curshen, eco chef and food writer, Tom Hunt, author and chef, Zoe Adjonyoh, baker Tom Herbert, author and blogger, Izy Hossack, and baker and recipe writer, Martha Collison, as well as food buyers from Harrods, Selfridges and Sourced Market.
